WOD: 5-5-5-5-5 Deadlifts
ParticipACTION was a Canadian government program, launched in the 1970s, to promote healthy living and physical fitness.
The government cut back on the remarkably inexpensive program in the 90s, and then finally cut it completely in 2001. One commercial compared the health of a 30-year-old Canadian to a 60-year-old Swede and started a national discussion on the state of physical fitness. See the CBC's report in a video clip here.
Why did the government get rid of such a bargain program? Has our national fitness become better or worse since the 1960s CBC report Committing Armchair Suicide?
In September 2006, CTV reported that the government may be considering bringing back ParticipACTION.
