Chuck Liddell of the UFC is trained by John Hackleman of "The Pit". Mr. Hackleman describes Crossfit as The best workouts in the world on his web site. Ever think about how to train for a fight? Most think of endless "road work", mile after mile of slow running. A fight, however, is short, intense, and brutal - much more like the workout today.
Skill:
Sumo DL High Pull
Lsit/Tuck Sit
Workout: "Fight Gone Bad". Three rounds of:
Wall Ball 1 minute (10 ft tgt, 20 lb ball)
Sumo DL High Pull 1 minute (75 lbs)
Box Jump 1 minute
Push Press 1 minute (75 lbs)
Row 1 minute (count # of cals)
Rest 1 minute
Your score will be your total number of reps for the combined three rounds. Crossfit founder Greg Glassman has estimated you need about a 350 score to compete in the UFC (assuming you knew how to fight!) You can scale this workout down as necessary by dropping the load on the lifts, or performing less rounds.
We'll tell you how his one got it's name at the end of the Suffer on Saturday.
Post comments on how this workout may be more applicable to a UFC fight than long distance running.
