Taking Care of Business

A short video of the athletes who came out for our opening weekend. There was a tremendous mix of people, many whose job means serving their country and their community. Thanks for your service. Unfortunately I did not get everybody that showed up on photo - you know who you are, thanks for coming out. I went with some all-Canadian music for the video and sadly BTO did not make the cut, but I thought it was appropriate for the title of today's post.

Back squat 5-5-5-5-5 reps

If you like, try something from Steve Stackpole, an avid Ottawa Crossfitter, Firefighter, and champion strongman - this guys knows how to pick things up. Go for a mid-heavy range weight, and execute the sets with 60 sec rest.

Post loads to comments.

The back squat is perhaps not as functional as the front squat or overhead squat (how many heavy things needing to be lifted up start out nicely settled on your back, stuck between your traps and hands?). Yet, an excellent strength builder and confidence builder. One of the three lifts of the sport of powerlifting. And for people who need to stand up with a load on their backs, like a rucksack or a fallen comrade in a fireman's carry, pretty good training.
