Some athletes expressed a concern that this was an 'intimidating' program. Well, over the next few weeks, as I get a chance to upload photos of all our athletes, you will see first hand that CrossFit is everybody. We met some lovely people this weekend. People like Deidre and Warren, and Chantal and Armand, and Maureen - I hope you come back - you are the kind of people that turn into 'CrossFit stars'.
Heck, I encourage everybody to ask the participants what they think. Just post a question on this blog and somebody will respond. Our group page is a work in progress, but we'll have a forum there up eventually.
The truth is that the typical routine of bodybuilding 3 sets of 10, three days a week, and doing LSD (long slow distance, not that other thing) twice a week works great for a minute percentage of the population (like the ones you see winning trophies at Mr. Olympia). Most of us on the bell curve respond better to varied, functional exercise executed at high intensity. Cut down on the volume of your training, ramp up the intensity. Work hard but for short periods, then get in some good recovery time.
Our first class - Sam you look concerned!
A short video retrospective of the last month's work.
Ellie, Cecilia, Melanie, Erik, Maureen, and Paul warmup during our first class.
Check out the video and photos from our first day on the blog tomorrow!
Rest Day (hey, Superbowl Sunday, is that a coincidence?)
